Who knows about pesantren? a school based on Islam which is now called an Islamic school. In Indonesia alone, the need for religious studies as a handle of life is very important, especially to neutralize globalization that is currently trending. If the past, pesantren are only religious schools, now pesantren are in the form of modern schools, with various facilities, foreign language learning, and religious personality formation.

History of the Origin of Islamic Boarding Schools

Islamic boarding schools are a traditional education where students live together and study under the guidance of a teacher better known as kiai and have a dormitory for students to stay at. The Santri is in a complex that also provides mosques for worship, space for study, and other religious activities. This complex is usually surrounded by walls to be able to supervise the entry of the students in accordance with applicable regulations.

The santri who live in boarding schools are very happy. Even though they cannot take a walk in Maal or go to the cafe, it turns out that in the boarding schools there are many activities that they do together. For example, memorizing the Qur'an, washing clothes together, cooking together and offering prayers. 

Then, who are the students in the pesantren studying with? Well, these students study with their teacher called the clerics. Not only did he serve as an educator, but this cleric also became foster parents to his children during his stay at the pesantren. Kyai teaches religion and female teachers usually prepare food, take care of sick students. 

Now, boarding schools have been very advanced, not only in the field of security but in the fields of natural sciences, mathematics, technology, and entrepreneurship.  The santri in Islamic boarding schools can speak and communicate in three languages,  Arabic, English, and Indonesian. In addition, the students were provided with mature skills, in addition to religion, many santri participated in entrepreneurial activities in pesantren such as making bread, making shoes and sewing.

The santri were educated to live independently, because they had to live in boarding schools, living far from their parents made the santri feel they had a new family in the pesantren. The classrooms of Islamic boarding schools are equipped with highly sophisticated teaching media and facilities, such as computers, LCDs, music studios and even santri rooms now clean, air-conditioned and equipped with learning and WIFI.

Now graduates from many Islamic boarding schools who continue their education out of the country such as Arabia, Qatar and many graduates of Islamic boarding schools which continue their education to Cairo Egypt. he santri mingled with the community by spreading coolness, kindness and friendliness even with citizens of different religions. Being in the middle of a graduate community of Islamic boarding schools applying Islamic studies in society. Like teaching Qur'an, becoming a mosque congregation and social activities as well as religious activities.

Now this santri are leaders in society. Become a religious leader who is needed by the community to have a positive impact on the times. Santri can also be a translator for Arabic and even English. Santri can open foreign language tutoring for school children who want to learn a foreign language.
